I love bugs!

Thu Jul 19, 2007, 11:40 AM
  • Mood: Affection
  • Listening to: Jack Johnson (Sing-a-longs & Lullabies)
  • Reading: Insecten gids (Dutch guide into Insects)
  • Watching: This space where I'm typing now..
  • Drinking: Water
Oh my.. I've become a bug addict! Never imagined myself being one! I LOVE bugs.. This probably doesn't make me any more popular amongst most my friends who are not into photography... Time for new friends? Naaahh.... I'll be quite... =D

And I can't say it enough: deviantART rocks!! :headbang: Spending waaaaaay to much time here... I've got a concussion at the moment caused by a crash while mountain unicycling. (You can see the video here on YouTube). Because of this concussion I should take it easy. And I do, but still spending way too much time here... Started a few months ago being active here on DA and found it pretty addictive... But probably most of you have the same experience! ;-)
And the people I've met here on DA! Amazingly friendly and helpful! I'd like to give 'em all a very big

This journal is mainly to say how happy I am to be here on deviantART. Learned so many things, met great people, joined a fantastic club: :iconmacro-beginners-club:, get a lot of great response to the things I do and people even favorite them! Still can't believe it... :jawdrop:

Thanks to you and love you all!

Coming 2 weeks I'll be using deviantART a lot less. :-( I'll be on holiday. But there's a pro: I'm gonna shoot a lot of bugs!! So expect a mayor flow of pictures coming in in about two weeks! =D)

(Happy) John

*edit*
OMG... I've reached 400 pageviews!! Thank you SO much guys! Awesome....

Welcome to BAN (bug addicts anonymous). It's a pretty healthy addiction, though...at least not as bad as others. And certainly not as dangerous as "mountain unicycling" ( what's that...and you better be careful next time). The bad thing is that winter will be hell, with no insects to take pictures of... :tears:

Have a wonderful holiday! Where are you going?
:icon70hn:
Thanks man! I hope so too!

Haha! Thanks... Maybe try staying at one flower until they land. Especially the drone flies are pretty stupid or blind. You can wait at a flower with your camera ready (prefocused) and wait till they decide to land on that flower. They don't even notice you or your camera... You need a bit of patience though.. And if you're in an uncomfortable position some endurance! =D But that shouldn't be a problem in your case.. :lmao:

Haha! You're right on that! I've got quite a few stories to tell... But yeah, mountain uni can be quite dangerous... But you're defining you're own limits and go well protected.... But sometimes even helmets aren't enough :-(
You can see the crash in action here on YouTube...

I've got loads of plans in the winter. I got a lot of inspiration here on DA. Want to make a simple house studio where I can play around with water drops and all kinds of other stuff ;-) So I'll keep myself occupied... Maybe I should start collecting bugs and make them mate and put em in jars and glass boxes and..... naaaah. That would be too nerdy!
